A single PGD can be used to supply or administer medicines in more than one location. PGDs do not need to relate to specific premises.

PGD states specific location for use

If no specific location for use has been specified on the PGD the supply or administration could take place at a variety of locations including an individual’s home, a surgery or health centre, a pharmacy or an Urgent Care Centre.

PGD does not state a specific location for use

If a PGD specifies the location of use (i.e. ‘Administration of lidocaine 1% injection within the Minor Injuries Unit’) then this PGD can only be used within this setting.
