About the event

The Older People Pharmacy Network were pleased to be able to introduce a number of multidisciplinary speakers who shared their insights on:

  • the hospital and primary care impact of COVID on older people
  • the pharmacy support provided by the discharge medicines service both by hospital and community pharmacy professionals.

Why it’s important

Understanding the issues facing older people will help to ensure you are meeting your patient’s medication-related needs.

What was covered

We heard two case presentations where pharmacists have used a “blended” approach to support older people with medicines optimisation to improve  physical, cognitive and functional  health.

Finally, we introduced a new section to our event with three speakers providing updates on clinical hot topics: this year they included dementia, diabetes and hypertension/stroke.
